Job DescriptionManage initiatives that drive improvements in safety, health and environmental compliance and performance across the business in line with BAEs commitment to Corporate Responsibility Manages Line of Business (LOB) safety programs to achieve and maintain compliance with corporate policies and procedures, federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes and rules, as well as corporate policies and procedures.--Plans, develops, and implements safety and industrial hygiene programs to comply with corporate policies and procedures, federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules. Investigates accidents or employee safety issues and complaints. --Works with managers, employees, and bargaining unit representatives and leadership to ensure that corrective or preventive measures are taken. Develops and updates LOB safety policies and procedures. --Plans and coordinates audits to monitor compliance with LOB, corporate and regulatory safety standards. --Plans and coordinates the utilization of safety and industrial hygiene consultants to promote safety consciousness and safe working practices. --Ensures that Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) record keeping and reporting requirements are met. Analyzes and interprets injury and accident data for monthly reports to corporate, LOB executives, and department managers. --Represents the LOB with regulatory agencies, corporate, and government customers regarding safety matters. Monitors industry developments, trends, and legislation. --Recommends Safety, Health and Environmental programs, policies, and/or procedural changes to enhance organizational effectiveness and/or ensure legal compliance. -- Provide guidance to the business in implementing requirements of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management System (SHEMS) and associated standards. Monitor safety, health and environment practices at Weapon Systems facilities to ensure they are consistent with the SHEMS Standard. --Plans, develops, and administers department policies, work instructions, budgets, and controls. Performs duties normally associated with supervision including, but not limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, counseling and disciplining of employees. --Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies. --Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor. Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience

Preferred Skills and Education:
Master’s degree preferred in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 10 years relevant experience. Professional SHE Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional or CIH Certified Industrial Hygienist.
