RECRUITMENT: The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration's District 3 located in Prince George’s County is recruiting for contractual Office Engineer (Transportation Engineer V) position. The successful candidate must meet the minimum qualifications at the time of the closing date. This is a contractual position with the possibility of becoming permanent.
This is a contractual position, which offers some state paid benefits.
NATURE OF WORK:
The main purpose of this position is performing the functions of an Office Engineer District's Construction Section. This includes supervising and managing other team members along with consultant personal in the preparation and processing a large volume of correspondence and construction documents. This position provides administrative support for two (2) Assistant District Engineers (ADE) of Construction, six (6) Area Engineers (AE), and eight (8) office personnel.
EDUCATION: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE:Five (5) years of experience in professional engineering.
*SELECTIVE QUALIFICATION:Two (2) year of experience in roadway construction to include the review of plans, estimates, construction contracts or specifications for construction projects.

1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
2. Possession of a Master's Degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a State with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
