The Town of Pendleton is seeking an experienced Public Works Director with technical expertise and strong leadership skills to effectively manage and guide the Department towards established goals. A collaborative and responsive, service-minded individual with an open communication style will be a good fit for the position. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills who will be a positive leader and a champion of the Department’s commitment to service. A candidate with significant experience presenting to councils, commissions, and community groups, who is conformable engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels on a regular basis is being sought.
Duties and responsibilities include, planning and budgeting, organizing, directing and supervising the Public Works Department, including sanitation, street, water distribution, sewer collection, and other public works projects and programs. Candidates must be proficient in creative problem solving, effective service delivery and public relations.
At a minimum, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in civil engineering, public administration or a closely related field; and five years previous public works experience including at least two years with utilities; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid SC driver’s license is also required.
